AOPC President’s Message

AOPC’s missions over the past 15+ years were to educate and advocate on behalf of Southern Utah Homeowner Associations (HOAs). Much was accomplished; but, circumstances have changed and AOPC’s missions are now being carried out by other organizations.

  • Vial Fotheringham (VF) law firm, under the leadership of Bruce Jenkins, is providing informative monthly seminars for Washington County HOAs.
  • Ball Janik LLP, under the leadership of John Richards, has presented several educational seminars in 2016 and plans to continue offering educational seminars in Southern Utah.
  • The Utah Community Associations Institute (CAI) provides 2-3 educational seminars per year.
  • Vial Fotheringham, Ball Janik, CAI, and its associated Legislative Action Committees (LACs), are actively engaged in working with city, county and state political leaders to draft and advocate for legislation, codes, rules, and other standards that align with HOA interests.

These organizations are committed to educating HOA Boards. They have paid staff to effectively schedule and offer continuing educational seminars. They also have the paid and legally qualified staff to draft HOA-friendly legislation, codes, rules or other governing documents.

In contrast, AOPC has relied on volunteers, supplemented with HOA expert lecturers. Now that AOPC’s missions are being met by others, the Board of Trustees has voted to close AOPC operations effective 31 December 2016. We will not be offering any further seminars or activities in 2016.

We didn’t want you to miss out on future training opportunities, so we provided our list of registered HOA emails contacts to the law firms of Ball Janik and Vial Fotheringham. Additionally, CAI’s seminars are usually advertised in the Spectrum or Senior Sampler. We’re confident your HOA Boards can continue to find expert advice on managing your HOA affairs.

The AOPC Board of Trustees thanks all past and present AOPC board members, HOA board members, friends, associates and our affiliate members for their support over the past 15+ years.   It has been our honor and privilege to serve you and our community.
